TALCA, CHILE – Round 1

In the Enduro Youth Cup class Jamie McCanney made a successful return to competition following shoulder surgery during the winter to place as runner-up in on both days. “I’m satisfied with how I rode this weekend and ending both days on the podium in second is a great start to the season. I’d only ridden for about four hours before coming to Chile. I didn’t know what to expect. Last year I ended up in hospital so this year I was determined just to finish. I felt like I had more speed but my main goal was to score some solid points. Aside from a couple of crashes with slower riders my weekend went to plan. With a bit more bike time I know I can start to push for race wins again.”

San Juan, Argentina – Round 2

Without question one of the Husaberg team’s stand out performances came from 125 Youth Cup class rider Jamie McCanney. Cautiously making his way through the GP of Chile, Jamie went after victory in Argentina and managed to claim the win on both days. In doing so he moves to the top of the 125 Youth Cup championship standings. I was too cautious in Chile, but I could see that the tests would suit me a lot more here in Argentina so I went for it much more,” explained Jamie after the event. “I was hoping to get a win and ended up getting two, which is great. I felt good on the first day, but also made a few mistakes. I’d made a good start to the day so my mistakes didn’t cost me too much. It was great to win. “Day two also started really well. I had something like a 40 second lead half way through the day, but then lost 25 seconds on the penultimate lap. I made a real mess of things because I lost my concentration. I was able to get the win on both days after five hours of riding this winter following my shoulder operation. With more time to prepare I’m really looking forward to the next round of the series.”
